A Studio Update: Taking Time, Healing, and Looking Ahead
Sometimes life doesn’t go as planned.
In 2023, I decided to take a sabbatical from my photography studio. After years of running sessions, editing, and managing a busy schedule, I was feeling burned out and knew I needed time to focus on my family, explore some creative projects, and simply rest and recharge. My original plan was to step away for about a year while I figured out what the future would look like, and whether I would return to the studio or consider retiring.
Then, in June 2024, life threw me an unexpected curveball. I became seriously ill and spent a week in the hospital. Recovery turned out to be much longer than I expected, and reopening the studio just wasn’t possible at that time.
Now, after many months away, I find myself really missing my studio, my clients, and the joy of creating portraits. I’m feeling much better than I have in a long time, but I’m still taking things slowly.
While I’m not quite ready to reopen yet, I’m looking ahead and thinking that the end of 2026 or early 2027 may be the right time to bring the studio back to life. If you haven’t already subscribed to my email newsletter, now is a great time as I will keep everyone updated there.
Thank you to everyone who has sent messages of support and encouragement during this time. It’s meant the world to me. I can’t wait for the day I can welcome clients back into the studio and get back to creating the portraits I love so much.
