Headshot Session for my brother, Paul (Yes I photograph men too!)
The last little while has been a whirlwind. My daughter got married, and it was every bit as beautiful as I hoped it would be. It was also completely consuming of my time and energy for weeks. Between the wedding itself and now helping her get settled into her new home, I've barely had a spare hour to myself. It's been a joy, truly, we're close and we've spent so much time together through all of it, but I'll admit my house is going to feel a little quiet without her here. All of it has me looking forward to reopening my studio soon.
In the middle of all that wedding chaos, my brother flew in from the US for the big day. He's an engineer, but he's also in the process of building his own online business on the side. He needed professional headshots, for LinkedIn, social media profiles, course platforms, lead magnets, and YouTube thumbnails, and he knew he wouldn't get another chance to sit down with me anytime soon. So the Monday after the wedding, we carved out an hour and made it happen.
What the session looked like
We kept it simple. He chose a neutral gray backdrop as his main option, clean and versatile enough to work across all the platforms he needed, and we added a few shots on white as well so he'd have some variety depending on where the image ends up.
For wardrobe, he wanted something that looked professional without being stiff, so he went with a suit jacket, a crisp white dress shirt, and khaki pants, which looked great against the gray backdrop. We built in some variety from there too, a few shots with his tie on and a few without, and some with his glasses and some without. Small changes, but enough to give him real options depending on where each image ends up being used.
A quick note for the men reading this
I specialize in photography for women, but it doesn't mean I don't photograph men too. Headshot sessions, couples sessions, family sessions, I've done all of it over the years, and I even have a Men's Session Styling Guide to help make prep easy if you're considering booking one yourself.
Studio reopening soon
With the wedding behind me and life starting to settle back into a rhythm, I'm looking forward to reopening my studio soon. If you've been thinking about a headshot session, whether for yourself or someone in your life, now's a good time to get on the waitlist or sign up for my email list so you're the first to know when I'm booking again.
