Family Portrait Session | Celebrating My Sisters and Their Families

This summer, my family gathered in Saskatoon to celebrate my nephew’s wedding. Even though I’m based in Calgary, I spend a lot of time in Saskatoon visiting family, and it’s not unusual for me to be asked to bring my camera along for family portraits.

On this trip, my sister Joanne asked me to photograph her family. She had a special request: individual portraits of each parent with each child. Joanne and I have been working together on a life story book for our mom, and in the process we realized how few of those parent-and-child moments had ever been captured. She wanted to be sure she had some meaningful images while everyone was dressed up for the wedding.

I also photographed my sister Sandra and her family, and my daughter Hannah with her fiancé. It was such a joy to document these moments, especially with so many of my loved ones together in one place. Sessions like these remind me why I love photography—not only for the portraits themselves, but for the lasting memories they create.

While I’m not officially reopening my studio just yet, I do have a few openings for mini family portrait sessions this September. If you’ve been thinking about updating your family photos, now is a great time—reach out to me for the details!
